The Farewell Speech - v2.0

Image
Everyone in the class was in a festive mood. On the last day of their graduation, all were giving speeches in their own style. Some were trying to overcome their shyness and fear. Aditya overcame his stage fear. Shekhar overcame his feeble voice. Vani overcame her tendency to laugh. However, others were lifting up the spirits with their own swag, as usual.     Then came his turn. He actually thought to prepare and talk. But he was in no mood. He had to pay for that mistake - an impromptu speech and that too on a non-technical subject. He did not want to ask some more time. He did not want to observe others and copy them. He proceeded to the stage through the cheers of the audience.     "Hello everyone", he was still shivering. He continued. "We had a long time together. Enough time for a memorable journey. A journey from strangers to best friends. A journey from best friends to enemies. A journey from careless to responsible people. A journ...

He had to pay for that mistake - an impromptu speech and that too on a non-technical subject. He did not want to ask some more time. He did not want to observe others and copy them. ***** For reading part - 4, click here. *****          "Everyone wished me yesterday. But why are you saying now?" Aanya asked him. Tarun replied, "It's not about being with you when you have everyone and everything. I'd be with you even when there is no one." She saw with a doubt. Tarun, trying to be spontaneous, said, "See, even I had a reminder on my mobile." This caused her to raise her eyebrows further high. "Should you have a reminder for remembering my birthday?". Tarun, realizing the flaw in his logic, said, "No no, I don't mean it. What I am saying is that..." She cut in the middle, and said, "You know what, how could I know that you're the one for me? Maybe I could get a better person as a partner. Someone who can use more percent of the brain.."   For her, it was just a funny question. But not for him. After thinking for a moment, Tarun said, "I am not sure, but what I tell you is to be with me,...

His brain had started filling with so many memories in such a short time that he could not withstand it. He collapsed into a bench near him. The surrounding students were shocked and were trying to make Tarun talk. He was not responding. After a few moments, he recovered and said "Yeah I am fine, it was just some stomach ache." Even Aanya was observing him and the scene he made. But she ignored it. He sat for 2 minutes and drank some water. Started giving the chocolates, and saying thank you to everyone in the class. He was giving a reply as if he were a "Thank You" robot. He tried to make some smile, but he couldn't. Finally, he tried to move his lips slightly so that people would be lost in thinking about whether he was smiling or not.     He reached Aanya and g...

***** Author: Rama Subrahmanyam Want to know the intro? Click here . Missed part 2? Click here . *****       He did not care about the route. He did not mind his looks. He was not feeling anything. He reached a deep forest. The sounds of wild animals did not fear him. He stopped and sat under a tree when he couldn't walk anymore. His every thought was about his past. His mistakes. His arrogance. The "his" was the reason for turning a bright life into a disaster. He had been crying, continuously. When he no more had the tears, he was thrown into a deep depression. He was thinking of only one chance to correct himself, correcting everything. It was not possible, he thought.     His depression has turned the bright sunny forest into a dark night. The wind stopped breezing to mourn with him. He sensed that his end was coming near. Suddenly a voice was heard, "You will get a second chance if your will is strong enough.." He did not believe what he heard. He did ...

***** Author: Rama Subrahmanyam Missed part 1? Read it here *****      He was at the table, looking at the diary. His hands were shaking. It was the lowest point one could ever reach. He could not go further down or further bad. He had gathered some strength and began writing.     "What I thought would happen, it happened. What I couldn't bear, it showed up. What I feared for, it occurred. But it's not about me. I should not have sent that message."     "We were a happy couple, like the best couple on the planet. Every day was special when I woke up to see her face. Every day was filled with lots of memories that require thousands of lives to experience. I no longer needed diaries to share my feelings. She became my dairy, and I became hers. We welcomed Saanghvi into the world, to give her all the love no one can ever imagine.."     "I thought love could change anything and anyone. What a great love..!! But I reali...

The reception

"The writer gave up at the last minute. Need you for this", told the other side. He wanted to cut the call. However, said, "Ok." Next came a mail - The reception of Ranjit and Chetana. He sighed and started his playlist. After finishing the writing, he sent the document. He arranged the bed and switched off the lights. * Chetana read the poem describing their pair. It reminded her of someone; her eyes started looking around. "It's nice right?", said Ranjit. At the same time, she saw him, standing in a corner. She didn't know how to respond. Nor did he.
